Check Out The Petrified Forest

Take your family on a trip to the past with a quick stop by The Petrified Forest. This is the only petrified forest in the state of California and will take you to the tallest petrified trees found in the world. Petrified trees are remnants of the historic redwood trees that were found in the area 3.4 million years ago. The Petrified Forest features two dozen of these trees still standing for you to reach by winding trails found in the park. You will be able to take unique pictures of the fossilized wood. Don’t forget to check out the gift shop on the way out where you can peruse through petrified wood, books, jewelry, and more to take home with you.

Visit the Old Faithful Geyser of California

Did you know that California has its very own Old Faithful geyser just like the one in Yellowstone? This summer come check out the Old Faithful Geyser of California found right here in Napa County. It is a smaller yet still spectacular version of the famous geyser that erupts every 15 to 30 minutes. You will be able to see the ground release pressure in this spewing geyser that reaches high into the sky. During your visit make sure to explore the beautiful scenery around the geyser. There is even a petting zoo on the property where you can find llamas, mountain goats, and horned sheep for the kids to interact with. The Geology Museum will show the family just how geysers work. The park is open daily in the summer from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM perfect for a quick visit over the summer.
